My body is my soulmate
Our bodies are always trying to tell us exactly what we need. Our instinct is always guiding us. Our inner wisdom is always whispering the truth.
Ego, on the other hand, often seeks someone or something to blame for how we feel. It creates resistance, insecurity and confusion. That’s why it’s so important to take responsibility for our emotional experience - and to notice what’s actually creating our moods: our minds.
When we recognise that what we’re experiencing can only ever come from within us, it’s incredibly empowering. It allows us to observe the ego in action without getting caught up in it.
Once we really see the ego for what it is - and the role it tries to play - we can begin to pay less attention to it. Some people call it the monkey mind, others call it the personal mind. One teacher I heard described it as “the manager in his head.” I loved that. Personally , I call it insecure thinking.
I know when I’m caught in insecure thought - because it comes with insecure feelings. That’s the body doing its job: letting us know what’s happening.
The more aware we become of the thoughts creating our moods, the more gently we can let go of them. My teacher with the “manager'“ says to himself: ‘I got this, thank you.” I love how soft and non judgmental that is. No frustration. No blame. Just pure awareness. Just gently showing ego the door.
And when ego steps aside, wisdom can work its quiet magic.
without the ego’s interference, we stop judging ourselves so harshly. we stop listening to that inner critic as if it were the truth. And just imagine the freedom and spaciousness that creates. Imagine no longer being at war with yourself.
That space - that peace - is our natural setting. Its home.
And when we feel at home within ourselves, love and compassion flow effortlessly. Because home is where our heart and soul live.
